The Archives
oldies, but still goodies!
The following are all blog posts from the original era of Curated by Carly, I’m talking from 2022-2024, and maybe a little before then. These were written while I was still in college, going through my first ever heartbreak, moving out of my parents home and into my own space, and pretty much just navigating post-grad. They’re a little chaotic but they’re fun, and I know that many of these topics are still relevant to so many young people. If you had asked me four years ago to keep my old writing visible to the public I would’ve probably had a minor panic attack, but now I’m leaving them up in all their glory for others to laugh at and learn from!
Enjoy!
Finding & Defining Perspective
The selected photo for this post kind of tells you all you need to know about the content of this upload. In order to relinquish control over the future and things you can’t change, you have to be able to find perspective in your life. It sounds deeper than it actually is, but read on to hear my take on it.
How to Heal from a Broken Heart
Inevitably, you are going to get your heartbroken, and it took me a long time to figure out how to navigate that feeling. But, with the help of some friends, some family, and a lot of tears, you’ll figure out a way to be okay again. Here’s the rundown on how I bounced back from the biggest breakup of my life.
1 Year Post-Grad: I Still Don’t Know What I’m Doing!
This week marks one full year of being “in the real world” and out of college. I have learned a thing or two, but I still have no idea what I’m doing, but that’s okay, because nobody else does either. If you make it through the entire article, there are some rapid fire life lessons at the end. Thanks for reading!
The Terrible 20s
“Two paths diverged in a yellow wood…” or something like that. Navigating your twenties is like being dropped in the middle of the woods without a map and having to decide which path is best. In this post, I unpack some of the different paths I have unfolding in front of me, and how I’m deciding which to choose.
Lucky Girl Syndrome: The Wellness Trend Winning Over TikTok
Lucky Girl Syndrome is taking over the internet; here’s where it started and why it’s had such a widespread impact.
Beating Down Writer’s Block
Consider this something of an “Author’s Note,” a message from me, to you. I have big plans for this platform in 2023, and they’re finally starting to come together! Stay tuned!
Why ‘The Goldfinch” Was (And Still Is) Such A Flop
The 2013 Pulitzer prize-winning novel by Donna Tartt falls short of the mark despite being anything but short. The 770 page novel drones on endlessly making prophetic claims about the immortality of art and the finality of death.
5-Star Books of 2022
All my favorite 5-star reads off the metaphorical ‘bookshelf’ and all in one place!
A Year in Review
While it might not be New Year’s just yet, I wanted to make up for lost time and get a jump on my writing goals for 2023. Hence, a new blog post! This one recaps the highs and lows of my year, with major life updates sprinkled in. Enjoy!
Unsettled: The Honest Truth About Anxiety
I wrote this blog post back in April when I was struggling with some of the worst anxiety of my life. I didn’t share it then, because I was worried that people might look at me differently, but I’m sharing it now to help show others that they are not alone. This is one part of a mini-series of brutally honest and vulnerable posts I plan to share for the same reason.
Back to Our Regularly Scheduled Program
After a few long weeks of, well, laziness, I have decided to stop neglecting this space and to return to writing on a semi-frequent basis.
Traveling to New York, Like an Amateur
All in all, this is the story of how I found out there are two Penn Stations between Newark, NJ and New York City, NY.
“Conversations with Friends” Lacks Conversation of Any Sort
After being floored by the novel and adaptation of “Normal People by Sally Rooney, I was eager to start the series based on the novel by the same author “Conversations with Friends.” However, I found that the show was wholly disappointing and lacked the relatability that was so well-acclaimed in “Normal People.”
“Normal People” is a Reflection on Genuine, Boring People…and That’s Why it’s Important
“Normal People” by Sally Rooney has collected its fair share of internet hype recently, so of course, I had to give it a read (and watch the new series on Hulu!). My thoughts were way too long to fit properly in my Bookshelf page, so I chose to share them in a blog post of its own!
Will April’s Showers Bring May Flowers?
The past month has tried and tested me…and ultimately I’m not sure whether I passed or failed, but I do know that it’s time to begin the journey forward. The crossroads between college life and post-grad life is like standing in front of an open door, knowing you have to go through, but not knowing what’s waiting for you on the other side. In this next chapter of my life, I get to share with you what I find once I take the leap of faith, and make my way through those doors.
48 Hours in Phoenix
Maura and I headed to the West Coast for a few days of relaxing to celebrate our Senior Spring Break! A little travel blog post to break through my current writers block and share our favorite places in Phoenix!
The College Experience: It Doesn’t Mean the Same Thing for Everyone
With gradation on the horizon, I reflect on what the reality of the college experience means, and why it’s okay if your’s isn’t something out of a movie.
Why Start Now?
The reason why I started this blog…and the reason why it took me so long to do so.
